Are you tired of waking up every winter morning with a sore throat and dry nose. The problem is winter has a much lower humidity level than summer, and on top of that your homes furnaces removes even more moisture from the air in your home. A typical home without a humidifier can have humidity levels below 20% which is when the sore throats occur and you will also notice wood floors and crown molding begin to shrink causing spaces at the joints. With an Aprilaire model 700 humidifier you can adjust your humidity level in your home to whatever works best for you. I have found most people like a humidity level around 35% but you can go as high or as low as you would like. The cost for this system is $750.00 but could cost a little more based upon the design of your system.
Your systems air filter is your first line of defense when it comes to the air you breathe. A standard 1” thick filter is basic in most HVAC systems and is better than not having a filter at all. There are numerous different types of air filtration systems out there but we have found that the Honeywell media filter works best for almost any application and that’s why we recommend it to all of our customers. It’s a 4” thick filter with a MERV 11 rating that stops 99.9% of all dust, allergens, and bacteria. The best part of this filter is it only needs to be replaced every 6-12 months depending on the size and traffic in your home. It’s a nice tight fit unlike most basic filters that have gaps and a loose fit almost nothing gets past this filter which makes the air you breath healthier and also keeps your HVAC system clean and running at peak efficiency. This system costs $350.00 but could go up depending on the design of your return duct and if additional sheet metal is needed to install it but most systems are easy to upgrade to the Honeywell media filter
